The Forge Mountain Diggers
Specializing in antique country music, high energy fiddle breakdowns, fire-eating, and staying up all night.
Originally formed as a contest band at the Mt. Airy Fiddlers' Convention in June of 2004, the Forge Mountain Diggers quickly realized that they were onto something good. They competed in the 2004 and 2005 festivals as "the Sidewinders," and earned honors at the Stecoah Valley Festival, the Appalachian Stringband Festival, and The Galax Old Fiddlers' Convention.
Made up of former Freight Hoppers fiddler David Bass (fiddle), original Hogwaller Ramblers' guitar/bass player Thomas Bailey (guitar and song) and the Milkcrate Rustlers' Allison Williams (banjo and song), they have set out on a mission to put the "HELL YEAH" back in Old Time music - in the classic tradition of the Hilltoppers, Earl Johnson's Clodhoppers, the Skillet Lickers, and the Coon Creek Girls. With a background in the DIY punk scene, the Diggers put their personal firebrand on the music.
